How To Paint Space Marine Salamanders

Many people like the color tone on my salamanders and I received many questions on how I achieved such a vibrant color on those marines. So I decided to make a tutorial on painting their Power Armour. This insets a strict codex color of the Salamander Chapter but it gives the model a more live look which makes them look much better on the gaming table

Step1. After priming the miniature with Games Workshop Skull White, I airbrushed the whole model with a layer paint Moot Green.

Step2. After it dried, I shaded the whole model with Biel-Tan Green. I applied a full coat of slightly watered down wash to make the whole mini darker and shade all the gaps.

Step3. Using Moot Green I highlighted the upper areas of the feet, legs, backpack, shoulders, hands and head.
Step4. I continued highlighting using Moot Green and Flesh Gitz Yellow mixing it with a ratio of 2:1 and then 1:1.

Step5. The final highlight was done with a Mix of Green and Yellow 1:2. After that, I painted all the details of the model.

You can find some examples of finished units painted using this method over here:

Space Marine Sergeant

Not much to say about this one. Just a Space marine Sergeant ? Does any one have an idea to which army/chapter would this guy fit the best? The base is from Minion-Studio.

The Rotten

It's here. Not an easy model to paint I tell you. Setting its size aside the base was giving me so many problems when painting the Daemon. But it's done.

Someone asked me about the full bits list so here it goes:
-Force sword and the victim are from Grey Knights Paladins
-Chaos Daemon Prince for the torso, head, tail and arms.
-The weapon was made by using Crypt Ghouls and Zombie heads
-Wings are from Zombie Dragon kit
-There is a head on a chain from Corpse Cart set
-Hook on a chain from Chaos Marauder Horsemen box
-Space Marine corpse is a bit from Crypt Horrors + one Tactical Marine head
-Spiked Balls on the tail end are also from Marauders Horsemen and the tail extension is from the Carnifex kit
-Legs are from the Zombie Dragon Kit

I'm sure that I forgot something but don't blame me, it took a lot of different bits ;p

WIP DPoN

Back from the Dead. Haven't been posting any updates on the blog lately. I used most of my free time to paint up this time-consuming behemoth which is the Daemon Prince of Nurgle. Still deep in the woods with this one but I'm getting there. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, my stand got damaged so I had to hold my camera.

At the end of next week I'm going to put up my old Vampire Counts Army on eBay auction. I never thought that it would come to this but at my house they are only gathering dust while they could be of use somewhere else.

If you have any suggestions about the Daemon Prince feel free to leave a comment and if you like what I do, please follow me on facebook.

And on a side note, I have a second cat now. Hope you like him, his name is Rico and he likes to throw my paints to the floor. :)

Have a nice weekend and thanks for reading,

The Forgefather

I finished Vulkan Hestan, the Salamander Chapter Primark. My favorite think about this model is his purity seal on his power weapon, I made if from a thin metal plate. Now the whole Green as a Lizard Project is finished and all that's left is some nice group photos and a nice case for them and they will be set to go on eBay and get ready to fight their 1st battle.

Have a nice day,

Thundering Darkness

The Night Lord is finished. At first I wasn't happy to paint him in his original color scheme. When I was finishing him up I kind of started to like it very much. Those few lighting accents gave him a really special look. I washed the golds with some Leviathan purple to make it fit the blue color of the armor.

For the base I made it simple and fitting the client's army. Hope no one has any problem with the imperial fist's marine head on the base :).

Night Lord Terminator Conversion

Some thime ago I made a Chaos Terminator Lord conversion but haven't had the time to post it on the blog so I'm doing it now. The client sent me a lot of awesome bits starting from the cool Chaos Lord on Manticore from the Fantasy range and ending on a cool Terminator head from Forge World. His concept was awesome as well. The final conversion work looked like this. I really like the full magnetization. It allows to put the model in so many different poses. It reminds me of some old action figures.

Stay positive, paint some more,

Lizard-head laser cannon

Here's The Salamander Razorback. I did some conversions on it, made my own Laser/TL-plasma Tower. I used two cold one heads from The Dark Elf Knights box set for it. I think it gives an extra accent to the salamander chapter. I also made a special door with the salamander symbol on it. I think it turned out nice. Hope you like it.

Bring in the big guns

Salamander Project near finish. I finally acquired some TL-Autocanons and now the Dreadnought of the Salamander Chapter is complete. I really like him with this weapon choice. He looks like a true artillery monster shooting up enemy tanks into pieces, If you are a monstrous creature, seeing him makes you run for cover. There is just a Razorback and Vulkan-Hestan to finish up the whole project.

Also the client that commissioned me the Daemon Prince of Nurgle model now wants me to paint him as well so those are some awesome news. Btw, if anyone knows the winner of the SA Contest, could you inform him that he won the prize , he hasn't contact ed me about it.
