Infinity completed: Aleph starter

Another outside GW models set in our studio, this time Infinity's cyborgs and robots. A little unusual bases for this set but still matching the theme. Cotrasting lining adds a little space under the tiles they're standing on, I catch myself staring at it everytime I look :P
Painting girls was a nice change from all those angry marines, I also really liked slim shapes of human models. Those figures are very small so trying to paint some clean detail was a nice challenge and fun here. Black and blues with a bit lights and a dab of purple. What do you think?

Two caged birds

Our Raven Guard dreadnoughts! Haven't seen them painted yet, did you? For now they're still in a wip stage but it's already a nice view. The scheme is pretty much similar to Death Company one i did a while ago, except this has more gradients :) I especially like the guy with white helmet and the way the gradient goes from the top of his front and down, continually through leg armour. I included some photos of all the switchable magnetized weapons, changing them is pretty fun :P In fact most of details are already done but I can reveal that I have a great idea for a banner freehand to pump up the final effect :D

This is the last wip post from this Raven Guard army so expect the massive awesomeness soon :)
Cheers,
Paulina

P.S. I totally forgot about taking photo with the sarcophagus bit, sorry :P Also sorry if the colorful background is distracting!

Flaming Plague

Damn that's hot, Hope that you will like this squad as much as you liked the Plasma one. I really had fun on this project. The basing here is awesome. I just had an idea for next time to make a wooden singe that says "Toxic" or "Warning" and put it in the ozz. If you are interested in sculpting those heads like I did on those guys check out our Sculpting Tutorial on those plag marines.

Hail Lord Mazdamundi

Kosa spoils me with this one. I love how vivid and saturated are the colors on this frog man, awesome guy. The amount of details that Kasia has put on this model is shocking. My favorite part is the Slaans gear and his small helpers. He reminds me of those guys that traveled to battle on war elephants.

Spread the Plague

First Plasma shooting squad of the Chosen of Nurgle Chaos Space Marines. The gamma of the colors here is really cool. This is the first time that I have used Den of Imaginations resin LAVA bases and painted them in a totally different scheme. The Plague toxic waist river. When I converted those guys I hoped that they will get some painting done and that day has finally come.

Gray Knight Librarian

One of the best paintjobs by Paulina. I mean look at that power sword effect just om nom nom nom. You can't overlook the books on his shoulder and above his head. If you look on the close ups you will see the G. K. initials. Awesome stuff.

Army Painter Mega Paint Set #review

We would like to share with you our thoughts about Army Painters paints. We got our set over a month ago but wanted to use them and check thoroughly before we make the review.

We got Warpaints Mega Paint Set 2013 - as stated on the cover of the box it includes:
- 34 paints
- 7 inks
- 1 anti shine varnish bottle
- 3 brushes

Each paint comes in a 18 ml standard bottle. Thanks to transparent bottles and color splash on the labels it's easy to locate proper color in the heat of painting.

AP's paints have a very good consistency and are easy to use and apply on the models. Saturation is also excellent both while painting and after the paint dries up.

Inks were tricky to use for me. They behave more like old GW inks than the new washes. Once I became accustomed to them they gave pretty good results. Its fun to use something "new", it was a great lesson for all of our painters to use those inks.

Metallic paints are my favourite. No water or mediums needed. You put some paint on the palette and can start to work right away. As usual "metallic" paints are slightly better than the gold ones. Overall these are one of the best paints I've used in years.

We focused our final tests on the most "difficult" paints. We tried to work with yellows and oranges, both with a brush and an airbrush. The results were positive. We had to work a bit to get a proper consistency for an airbrush but it was certainly worth the effort.

Take a peek on the back of the box and what the manufacturer wants us to know:

Notable parts:
• 34 paints +  inks and varnish
• 3 different brushes

Let’s weigh the pros and cons of this set.

Pros:
• quality and quantity in a fair price
• consistency and saturation
• great "metal" paints
• excellent as a starter set
• brushes and varnish included

Cons:
• inks are tricky to use at first
• need experience to use with an airbursh

Clearly, there are more positives to this set. Overall, a good buy for personal and semi-pro use. Its a great starter for every painter. It allows you to paint almost everything, 3 different brushes help a lot.
